2005_1ITS–Sayur Tauco is a well known dish from North Sumatra, Indonesia.  To have this dish ready, we need 7 string beans, cut into 2 cm; 250 grams of shrimp, without skin or tail; 1 white tofu, cut into small pieces; 200 grams of tomato, cut harshly; 3 tablespoons of tauco; 4 cloves of garlic, slice very thin; 700 ml of coconut milk; 500 ml of broth;3 tablespoons of cooking oil to stir fry.

Generally, Sumatran Cuisine is rich in spices. Sayur Tauco needs some spices as well: 8 red unions, sliced very thin; 100 grams of green chili; 50 grams of chili; 2 leaves lemongrass, take the white and bruise it; 2 salam leaves (laurel like leaf used in cooking); 2 cm of ginger; 1 teaspoon of sugar; 1 asam kandis; 1 teaspoon of salt;

For the next step, heat the cooking oil, stir fry the garlic until it gives of an aroma, put all the seasoning in, mix well; Add shrimp and stir till it’s color changes, mix thoroughly with the string beans, tofu, tomato and tauco;  Pour broth to boil, add coconut milk.  This will make 6 portions.
