E-97-1-SANGIRAN-17ITS–The “Sangiran XVII” skull fossil was found in 1969 in Sangiran Village located in Central Java. It is also categorized into Phitecantropus soloensis. The fossil of adult man is thus far the most complete remains of Pithecanthropus ever found; only the mandibles were missing.
