ITS–J-61On the 7th of December 1987, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe the 26th of June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

In commemorating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, since 1988 UN member countries have been holding various drug abuse prevention and control activities. To commemorate the year, Indonesia issues a stamp series to raise awareness of the danger of drug abuse among people. The combat against drug abuse is not merely the government’s task but rather a collective responsibility.
